Welcome to the Savoir blog for alternative and unconventional weddings. As wedding planners we have noticed there is huge demand for advice, inspiration and suppliers for the unconventional couple. So we're going to fill that void and bring you the latest news to help you plan your unique and alternative wedding.
Having an 'unconventional wedding' doesn't necessarily mean having something wild and crazy. It just means you'll make the choices that are right for you and won't necessarily follow tradition. There are so many myths and misconceptions surrounding weddings but the legal side is actually very straightforward. As long as that's taken care of you can do whatever you want.
Having a wedding is about showing the people you care about your commitment to your partner (sorry but there's no way to say it without it sounding cheesy) and since it's about your love you deserve a wedding that genuinely reflects you as a couple - not one that looks like it belongs to someone else. To be an unconventional couple you can still incorporate traditional elements such as flowers, cake, speeches, first dance... you'll just incorporate the aspects you like and ignore the ones you don't.
We organise all sorts of weddings and can help you have whatever you want. We specialise in festival style weddings, receptions at home, weddings on a shoestring, green weddings and civil partnerships.
We decided to become wedding planners specialising in unconventional weddings because of the overwhelming demand for ideas and advice. If you want more personal information specific to your weddings check out our website www.savoirweddings.co.uk and get in touch.
And just so you know everything we mention on this blog is our opinion - we haven't been paid anything in advertising so you know the advice you're getting is genuine.
Note: we often refer to brides and grooms but this is not to exclude gay couples.'Bride' and 'Groom' is just used for ease of writing. So all you brides and brides and grooms and grooms read on!
Oh and we should also point out - we're not being rude to people who choose to have entirely tradition weddings. In fact many of the ideas and suggestions may be applicable to those having such weddings. We're just trying to offer support and ideas for those who might want things done differently. So congratulations to all of you, whoever you are and whatever you're wedding will be like :)
