For Japan with Love

The incredible Lydia from Ever Ours and Utterly Engaged have set up something quite wonderful to support the thousands of people affected by the earthquake and tsunami in Japan.

You can be involved with For Japan With Love in three ways.

Firstly by donating whatever you can. For Japan With Love links to Shelterbox a charity that quite literally provides shelter boxes including a disaster relief tent, water purification equipment, a stove, cooking equipment and other vital items.

The second way you bloggers can help is by having a blog day of silence tomorrow on Friday March 18th. You can see more information here but it essentially involves not doing a blog post at all tomorrow.

And thirdly you can tweet about it www.forjapanwithlove.com to spread the word and encourage others to be involved in any way they can.

So if you're a fellow blogger please get involved in this amazing project.

Little People street art

Okay so this has absolutely nothing to do with weddings but these images tickled me and I thought they might amuse you too.

Check out the blog Street Art Utopia where I found these, it has some interesting stuff on it.

Which one's your favourite? I like the couple with the cigarette art best I think.

Some pretties to start the week with

Good morning all! Hope you've had a grand weekend. I've got lots of lovely wedding work to get on with today and I'm going to squeeze a trip in to see my friend's new born baby.

Here's this week's monday medley

the bouquet

The first blog beauty to present to you is this creative and quite frankly adorable origami bouquet called I Heart You. Such a cute idea and could be adapted as a bridal bouquet quite easily I reckon.

the dress

I'm seeing more sparkly embellished detail in dresses at the moment and this is definitely something I can get on board with, especially when on vintage inspired and neutral coloured dresses. So glamorous and interesting at the same time. Found via the wonderful {this is glamorous}

the diy bar

A french fry (or chip for those from Blighty) bar to be more precise. What a truly good idea. And you can apply it to any food I guess.

the centrepiece

I discovered these on an Etsy trip. Particularly like how it's called Hussy reclaimed succulent stiletto.

I'm always on the lookout for original wedding decoration and these would certainly be interesting centrepieces.

Have a good day!

Blog browsing

Good evening my dears, hope this week finds you all well. Today I had a good day, spoke to a few new clients, met up with a fellow wedding planner and continued a venue search for an August wedding.

Now I'm going to have tea and cake (despite the late hour) and shall leave you with these for company...

the photo

Just look how happy this bride is. Just lovely. Found over at Hi Fi Weddings the rest of the wedding is utterly charming.

the ring

Found over at Glamour and Grace this baby by Macha jewellery can be bought on etsy. It's so raw and imperfect I love it.

the mask

Rather liking the idea of Venetian style masks at a wedding. In fact a masked wedding would be pretty interesting. Or maybe a bit odd? Would look good for photos however.

the chairs

I can just see these chairs at a whimsical wedding. They're Philippe Starck for Kartell and since they're a touch expensive I'm not sure we'll be seeing them at weddings anytime soon. Still a girl can dream.

What have you got planned this week?

White wedding goodness

Well if you live in the UK chances are you've been experiencing the joys of a proper decent snowfall this weekend. I know it causes major chaos but it really is just so pretty and magical and therefore perfect in theory for a wedding (yes there is much to consider and prepare for with winter weddings) but it's hard to beat the sheer romance of a snow filled wedding. And so has become the focus of this week's Monday Medley. Hope it's all warm and toasty where you are.

the bride

1920 elegance and winter weddings just go hand in hand so well.

Found over at Eliza Claire Photography (this sneek peek looks divine, can't wait to see more).

the dessert table

To be honest fancy schmancy £600 wedding cakes are really my bag and I'm a bit bored of cupcakes. But dessert tables are a little bit more exciting. I like the variety if offers guests and it can be a fun feature to decorate. This colour scheme would suit a winter wedding, no?

the drink

For winter weddings you can't beat a cup of something hot to keep guests happy. Hot chocolate (with or without alcohol), mulled wine/cider, gingerbread lattes, there are plenty of yummy options. And if you've got expert bar staff (not to mention a proper coffee machine) you could do some impressive latte art like the bunny head below.

the treat

Winter macarons with edible gold leaf. *Sigh*

the reindeer

the sparklers

Nothing beats a sparkler send off as you walk back down the aisle as a newly married couple...

Hope you have a wonderful wintry Monday folks. Not long til Christmas now. Are you excited?

Some soothing sounds for your ears...

I'm been listening rather obsessively to the insanely mesmerising voice of Dylan Leblanc lately and it spawned my folk/alt country inspired music post for this week's Hi Fi Weddings Mixtape Masters.

I intended to write a lot more about this mixtape but I am truly shattered and ill today and need to concentrate my attentions to my wedding clients. That's the one thing about running your own business, no sick days!

Still from my comfy seat (definitely working from the sofa today) I shall be listening to this mix to hopefully sooth my sore throat...

I hope you have a splendid weekend my lovelies, what are your plans? I'm heading out for my early birthday dinner tomorrow with all my best girls. Funny how 'refined' birthdays get as we get older!

Things that have caught my eye of late...

Good morning my lovelies, this is the calm before the storm of a super busy week for me. Why is this time of year always so crazy eh. I imagine your lives are equally as jam packed!

I thought this was a nice way to start this week's Monday Medley...

the thought

the dress

Azzoro (uber chic French fashion house) launches a bridal collection Azurro Mariée. Okay now this definitely won't be for the brides on a budget but a girl can dream right?

There's going to be 30 dresses featuring both short and long styles and a variety of delicious fabrics.

The totally decadent and divine part is that each dress comes with a personalised label with the bride's name and wedding date AND an illustration of the dress as a souvenir.

All very VIP so far and the treatment you get promised at the London, Paris or Barcelona boutiques sounds wondrous. I wonder if they'll make me a dress in the name of research?

the eyelashes

I have decided after reading this post over at OMG I'M Getting Married that I am going to go and get me some false eyelashes. Quite frankly I am fed up of my pathetic spiky spider legs eyelashes and want some glamour. How amazing would it be to wake up all fluttery eyed and girly!

the bride

This bride's amazing eclectic style is captured rather beautifully by Chloe Browne aka Caught The Light

Just check out the venue, the bridesmaids and the styling. It is epic I tell you.

the photos

I discovered these beauties over at Style Me Pretty. I really like the-looking-into-the-sun effect.

the jewellery

These pieces are just presented so well. Found over at tales of a jUnkaholic, they are part of the new collection by blog owner and all round cool lady Artemis.

That's it! Enjoy your Monday.

Girl power. A cheesy title but some awesome songs by girls...

That's right folks, it's Friday, so it's time for my latest mixtape masters entry for Hi Fi Weddings weekly collective playlist.

I'm a big fan of a wide range of music. I truly am one of those annoying people that says they like all sorts of music. And I actually mean it. I am in fact a bit of a music snob.

But I also LOVE cheesy tunes from pop classics to 80s ballads. And so I thought today I would create a playlist of songs by women (although Willow doesn't really count as a woman seeing as how she is 10).

These 5 songs always get me in a good mood and I hope they have the same effect on you!

Monday Medley - Wedding inspiration from the world wide web

What's been catching my eye over the past few days...

Oh and I'm not referencing the Royal wedding here because a) I doubt it will be the kind of wedding me or my clients take much inspiration from and b) I'm much more into 'real' couples weddings. Having said that they are a couple in love and getting married so I'm happy for them in that regard.

Anyway onto some pretties...

I found this over at erin ever after a blog I have followed for ages because of her incredible ability to post things I want/love/desire etc.

So the flower is pretty but it's the swept under plaits I like best. I seem to have a bit of a thing for plaits lately, but I don't think this would be that easy to create myself at home.

This purple ruffle skirt by one of the best Etsy shops Ouma is to-die-for. I'd love to see a bride or bridesmaid wearing something like this.

I came across this on one of my Etsy trawls and thought it would be quite sweet for a winter wedding. Maybe lighting up a dark space or outside. The patterns it would throw would be quite romantic to gaze out I imagine.

I like this sentiment rather a lot. I've been thinking about what my next little tattoo will be and I quite like the idea of some text.

I found this over at Everything Fabulous and it's got me thinking about masquerade balls and how cool it would be to have a masquerade wedding. You could get all your guests to wear masks and it would be a quirky twist on a formal wedding.

This Rock n Roll Bride is wearing a vintage inspired Topshop dress as her wedding dress. Much as I see why brides want to feel special and wear something expensive and 'bridal', I also think there's nothing better than brides doing things their own way and I would certainly feel special in a dress like this.

So these have put me in quite a good mood on this chilly Monday morning. Hope you have a good day my lovelies!

Monday Medley - Wedding inspiration from the world wide web

Here follows some pretties you may or may not have come across... perfect to look at with coffee and doughnuts this Monday AM I think.

This bride's dress and accessories are vintage divine. And look so pretty with the wildflower bouquet. If you read the full post on Hi Fi Weddings you can see the music they played at their day too.

And for a totally different style bouquet, check out this explosion of colour..

I seem to be having a bouquet day as I can't take my eyes of this beauty either. Found via the always pretty forget.me.knot.weddings, it's the colours that do it for me.

These may be some of the finest wedding shoes I've seen in a while. I mean, check out those ruffles! In fact the whole wedding is the epitome of style.

A super cute pic of Kat of Rock n Roll Bride fame shot by the never-gets-it-wrong Emma Case.

This day looks like muchos muchos fun. So much so that I had to post 3 photos.

And this is amusing is it not?!

Well I don't know about you but I had a pretty mental weekend, meeting long lost cousins amongst other exciting but exhausting things, so now I'm looking forward to a fresh new week. I'm meeting a few of my lovely brides, meeting some new suppliers and getting started on one of my new ventures.

And in other news... the wondrous Anna is to be a wife in a mere 12 days. Like many of you I have always looked forward to Anna's intelligent and interesting spin on wedding and un-wedding related things and hope she won't stop writing once she's married. I am super duper excited to catch up this week for a gossip, and hoping Liv (aka Blushless) and Charley (aka London Bride) might be free for wine and chats also ;)

So what's getting you excited for this week?
