Pretty in blue

Kind of smitten with these bridesmaids and their sassy little dresses and rainbow shoes. A nice twist on matchy matchy bridesmaid thang and I cannot get enough of that blue.

Nothing beats brights for getting my attention (as my Pinterest board will attest).

Be sure to check out the entire wedding in all it's quirky English garden glory over at photographer Joanna's blog.

If only Australia was closer to the UK...

...Then I would definitely be recommending these to my brides to be. Juliette Hogan's bridesmaid dresses are simple, elegant and in the kind of shades that make me a little weak at the knees.

Girl Meets Dress

Christopher Kane hire £189 RRP £575

Aftershock Palais Maxi dress hire £99 RRP £399

Schumacher graphic print tunic hire £109, RRP £252

Designer dresses without the hefty price tag? Don't mind if I do.

Girl Meets Dress has loads of dresses from the likes of Marc Jacobs to Halston ready and waiting for girls like us to hire for that special occasion.

Now I don't know about you, but I'm not in the habit of buying designer labels (much as my heart sometimes sighs for them) so I love the idea of this site.

From a wedding boutique (with brides, bridesmaid and wedding guest options) to work function outfits, Girl Meets Dress has a lot of dresses for your perusal. It seems pretty straightforward and you can do it all online.

What do you think? Would you hire a dress for an event or do you always want to own what you buy?

And you can see me on their blog here!

This isn't a sponsored post incidentally, I just wanted to share.

You bring peace to my heart...

Not everybody's cup of tea but certainly a day for some gratuitous heart action. Whatever you get up to this evening, have a good one.

Wedding inspiration for 2011

Well happy 2011 lovelies! I hope this new year brings you whatever it is you're looking for.

Savoir Weddings has had a rather splendid start to the year. I have been a little remiss on blogging because it has been MENTAL. Aside from eating Christmas dinner I have been a very busy wedding planning bee. Which is all rather exciting and fills me with anticipation for 2011.

And here is the first Monday Medley (okay Tuesday) of the year.

the ceremony

I LOVE this idea. Partly because I'm working with a couple who want to use a projector and this is great inspiration and partly because it's just awesome.

the designer

You simply must head over to London Bride to check out Charley's post on French designer Delphine Manivet. These dresses actually make me salivate a little bit.

the hair

This year I would quite like to dye my hair lavender. For no particular reason other than it looks interesting.

the dress

I don't think I've seen a dress this divine in a while. The colour is magnificient.

Of course this dress is another one of my faves.

the 'maids

It's all about the colours and the shawls I think.

the decor

I'm not sure why but I have a bit of a thing for stags and deers at the moment. These prints would look good framed as wedding decor I think. And you can buy here.

Also feeling this idea today..

I'm not sure how you'd do it, presumably just slighlty curl the photo and slide in? You could fill with photos of you as a couple, as children, with family and friends and make a nice feature of it at your reception.

That's it! This week I will be bringing you a guest book idea from a wedding I'm styling and will be bringing back my mixtape masters contributions.

Quail Bridal Bridesmaid dresses

I'm not really a fan of the 'traditional' bridesmaid look. You know, all matchy matchy and designed not to upstage the bride.

If I were getting married I'd want my girls to look something like this:

Mismatched, cute and for want of a better word, (because I'm not really a fan of it) sassy.

They're all from Quail Bridal and designed to be worn over and over again. Which is especially brilliant if you're asking your bridesmaids to buy their dresses themselves.

Whilst they have stores in New York and Long Beach they can ship internationally. Hurrah.

Check out the website as it's a pretty feast for the eyes - they have bridal dresses and an online store with some to die for dresses.

Love for Lisa!

Lisa Devlin Photography

It's just 48 hours until one of my favourite couples get married and I am so excited about Lisa photographing it.

Not only does Lisa shoot for the coolest couples with the most fabulous looking weddings but she has such a light and joyful way with the camera that I simply cannot wait to see her photos of this wedding that I have so enjoyed working on this summer.

Here's a few pics from a recent wedding on Lisa's blog.

This images and many many more can be seen here and here.

Cameo rings for bridesmaids

I love etsy. There are so many awesome bits and pieces out there just waiting to be stumbled upon I like the idea of these cameo rings as gifts for bridesmaids. Vintage inspired rather than pure vintage and a steal at $8 per ring.

Time to have a little fun

I may have mentioned somewhere (or it's apparent) that I like the fun side of weddings. Of course, I appreciate the romance and for want of a better word 'seriousness' but when it comes to wedding photos it's the amusing, silly, joyful shots that do it for me.

Now wedding props may go in and out of fashion and when you're showing your grandchildren in 50 years those moustaches might look a bit odd but that aside wedding photos showing fun and laughter are timeless.

Two Birds... bridesmaid dresses with a twist

So one of the most delicate aspects of planning your big day is deciding what your bridesmaids will wear and perhaps as importantly, how you will deal with any potential issues they may have.

Two Birds have a solution. One style of dress that can be worn in ' 15 unique ways flattering all body types, 18 colours offered in four lengths'. Sounds good right.

I've never worked with any brides that have worn a Two Birds dress and haven't seen them in the flesh but so far so impressed.

The dresses are made of a luxury jersey fabric. The genius behind them lies in the bodice straps which can be altered to make v neck, strapless, halter and more. And prices are £180 for the short version and £200 for the longer length which won't break the bank (unless you have 15 bridesmaids).

Check out the website, it's full of floaty dreamy images. And they have stores in Sydney, New York and now London.

Think I'm going to have to make an appointment to check these out...

Bridesmaids - um hello, do they get much better than this?

Fun and sexy. Yes please.

The whole of this wedding is absurdly fabulous. I feel like I say this a lot and then another beautiful wedding just ups the ante.

Grey tights on bridesmaids not school girls. Love it.

Look once and you see pretty bridesmaids in coral dresses. But look again and they're wearing navy converse. Fabulous.

I like the lace peeking out and the unusual shape of these dresses.

Love the lace and contrast bewteen elegant dresses and lighthearted fun photo...

Bridesmaid style

First up is this treat from 100 Layer Cake. What is not to love about this bride and her gals?

Mismatched dresses? Check. Mismatched colourful bouquets? Check. Fabulous style? Yep, definitely. This is becoming more prevelant among weddings we're coming across and styles we're being asked about. It's all about mixing it up so it looks artfully thrown together in an effortless fashion.

In fact the whole wedding is pretty spectacular.

Next we have some vintage peach/coral/apricot from Green Wedding Shoes. The bride picked her colours from a paint chart and let her bridesmaids choose their dresses from that!

I know this has been floating around a lot of blogs but how incredible are these bridesmaids? Look at their tights! And sequinned jackets! This whole London wedding is overflowing with personality and style.
