Retro wedding party

The clients from this fab wedding party had a super elegant and intimate wedding at Beauberry House on the Friday and wanted a totally fun and colourful party the next day. A brilliant idea if you can't decide what type of wedding to have (and have the money to do both)!

Julia bought the decorations she wanted and I went along to style it for her so she and her hubby could turn up relaxed and stress free to start her second party.

Here are some iphone pics...

Julia (the bride), works for Wedding magazine as an art director and is a wedding photographer herself. See her blog for more about her work.

A rockin' wedding party...

The rather wonderful couple...

The reception was held in the music venue the couple run which already has pretty amazing design. Pink flamingos were an incongruous and rather fabulous touch.

The walls of the pub downstairs...

And the contrasting design upstairs...

Liv from Blushless with a flamingo in her hair...

The couple had their favourite band play...

A fun, frivolous and totally non traditional wedding reception ) made all the better because I was socialising not working)!

A wedding story

We recently organised a wedding in Babington House in Somerset (still waiting for best photos, will blog when they arrive) with a very small guest list. The couple couldn't afford to pay for lots of guests to stay over so they stuck to close family and friends only.

Now the bride in this couple came from a big Jewish family many of whom were very put out at not being invited. But the bride held her ground with her mum and stated that this was about her and her husband- to- be not distant relatives.

The wedding was a success and a great time was had by all. But the mother of the bride was still feeling the pressure from relatives and really wanted an opportunity to show off her wonderful now married daughter.

So she decided to hold a 'wedding party' in her house. She ran the idea by her daugher and son-in- law who were fine with the idea as long as they didn't have to do anything as they'd well and truly had enough of wedding planning. And mother of the bride 2 called us up to ask us to plan a marquee wedding at their house for the 120 guests that didn't get to see the splendour of Babington House.

I think this is a fab idea. Have 2 weddings. Even with the extra cost MOB (mother of the bride) was paying for this second wedding it wouldn't have been anywhere near enough to have invited all extra guests to first wedding. The newlyweds don't mind at all as they've already had the wedding they want and are happy to let MOB plan the wedding party exactly as she wants. In fact our contact so far has been exclusively with MOB.

So what do you think of this? Would you do it?
