I am so ridiculously excited about Radiohead's new album The King of Limbs which has been released online today. So I had to do a mix of some of my favourite Radiohead songs. Which has been impossible.
Words cannot express how I feel about Radiohead. Coming from Oxford I grew up with their music. From The Bends to OK Computer and the incredible In Rainbows, their music has been the soundtrack to my life.
I can't even write any more without getting teary.
Suffice to say, Radiohead, I love you.
If you like Radiohead too, what are your favourite songs?

Well I'm glad to see Friday this week folks. It's been a mental week which is fast becoming the norm here at Savoir HQ ;)
Anyway I missed my weekly mixtape masters last week from just being so damn busy but this week am back with some new sounds for your ears to wrap themselves around.
I'm not really sure why I like covers so much. It's just interesting to hear the different ways a song can be sung. Often makes you appreciate the original too.
I'm been listening rather obsessively to the insanely mesmerising voice of Dylan Leblanc lately and it spawned my folk/alt country inspired music post for this week's Hi Fi WeddingsMixtape Masters.
I intended to write a lot more about this mixtape but I am truly shattered and ill today and need to concentrate my attentions to my wedding clients. That's the one thing about running your own business, no sick days!
Still from my comfy seat (definitely working from the sofa today) I shall be listening to this mix to hopefully sooth my sore throat...
I hope you have a splendid weekend my lovelies, what are your plans? I'm heading out for my early birthday dinner tomorrow with all my best girls. Funny how 'refined' birthdays get as we get older!

That's right folks, it's Friday, so it's time for my latest mixtape masters entry for Hi Fi Weddings weekly collective playlist.
I'm a big fan of a wide range of music. I truly am one of those annoying people that says they like all sorts of music. And I actually mean it. I am in fact a bit of a music snob.
But I also LOVE cheesy tunes from pop classics to 80s ballads. And so I thought today I would create a playlist of songs by women (although Willow doesn't really count as a woman seeing as how she is 10).
These 5 songs always get me in a good mood and I hope they have the same effect on you!

I'm writing this week's mixtape master post whilst squinting at the computer as I have a rather killer migraine today. But, no rest for the wicked and all. So on to the point behind this mix. New music. All these tracks are by artists that are relatively new 'on the scene', or are at least new to me. I liked doing this, I think I'm going to do a new music mix next week too.
This has got to be my favourite mix, so much so I had to do 6 songs because I just couldn't choose. And what's more there's pretty banging floor filler wedding tunes! Well if you grew up in the 90s (and lived in the UK) not sure how big these were internationally. But seriously, there's nothing better than songs like this to get everyone 35 ish and under, up and dancing.
They remind me of being a teeny bopper, school discos, and longing to be a grown up and have all the answers.
Well now I'm grown up and whilst I definitely don't have all the answers, I do know that musically it doesn't get much better than this (tongue is slightly in cheek)...

These are all artists that were introduced to me by a good friend with excellent music taste. Lissie is incredible, her voice is the kind we all wish we had; I saw the XX before they were big and like to say I knew their time was going to come; Paloma Faith and Josh Weller are an insanely talented musical couple and The Brute Chorus make the kind of high energy music that you can't help but dance to.
So until this very post, this blog has been all about my views on weddings, style, life etc. The other half of Savoir hasn't had much of a look in. Until now. He has decided to hijack my monthly mixtape feature to, well, to give his opinion on music related things.
As part of our wedding planning services we provide alternative wedding DJs for couples who'd rather listen to 'good' music than "Come on Eileen" all night. It seems many of you out there want to be able to listen to music you like on your wedding day without alienating certain guests. As you should what with it being your wedding and all.
So DJ Dan decided to compile a list of song covers better than the originals. Now these might not be the tunes to get Granny on her feet but they're pretty cool nonetheless.
And I leave you with this. It's not a cover as such but if you haven't come across this boy, which you probably have done as this is epic, then you must watch!
Have we missed any fabulous covers? Do you have a favourite?
Coming from music backgrounds (the other, more silent half of Savoir still works as a booker for a music PR agency) we really don't talk enough about music on this blog.
There's so much I could say about music and why I love it in general let alone at weddings, so I'm not even going to start.
Instead I'm starting a new, probably monthly feature, of 'alternative' wedding music, called The Monthly Mixtape. We're going to compile a selection each month of music we ♥ and would be part of our wedding mixtape.
Some old tunes, some new, some you'll have heard, some you might not.
Music to walk down the aisle to, to dance your first dance to, or maybe just have on your playlist .
So here's 10 random lurrrvve songs for you to get all soppy and romantic to.
1. The Maccabees - Toothpaste Kisses - just a damn beautiful song - probably my favourite both lyrically and musically here. Check out the quite random vid below...
